In 2005, over 35 actors, poets, dancers, writers, dramaturgs, designers, musicians, and composers at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, collaborated to create Re/Rites: A Devised Ensemble Piece Celebrating Hip Hop Culture. The full-length performance played for two sold-out weeks on the Undergraduate Drama Mainstage at Tisch.
After its success in New York, Re/Rites was invited to play at the Pittsburgh Project and the cast was invited to lead a week-long workshop with local youth. As a result of this residency, the cast of Re/Rites was presented with a commendation by the Pittsburgh Council Photo. Scenes from the performance have been presented by original cast members at colleges and conferences across the U.S.
